The first co-creation Workshop of the Swiss case study took place today! More than 30 participants discussed about how to generate new value propositions for SMEs and other regional food chain actors through improved valorisation of co-products.The main topics addressed during the workshop will be: co-product valorisation in the fruit & vegetable sector to develop alternative cleaning agents or crop protection products, increasing added value generated per unit of fruits sold, reducing the ecological footprint and improving the cooperation between farmers and processors.

We presented our project at the SWG SCAR-AKIS group meeting which took place on 1-2 June 2021. The SWG SCAR-AKIS group focuses on improvements of the functioning of knowledge and innovation systems in the Bioeconomy.

FAIRCHAIN ans its sister projects – CO-FRESH, FOODRUS,LOWINFOOD, PLOUTOS – were presented along with the overarching Farm2Fork Strategy during an event entitled ‘Collaborative and circular food systems to reduce pollution and improve health’ during the EU Green Week 2021.

We have published our first project newsletter, which focuses on the concept of intermediate value chains. We also present the Austrian case study, “Food Innovation Incubator”, and give an overview of the outreach activities of the past months to maximise synergies with other European projects.
